Okay so...this interview? I have to do presentations. I have absolutely NO experience in doing children's programming, and I have to do two 15 minute demonstrations. I have to do a 15 minute storytime presentation for 0-5 year olds, and a 15 minute program for 8-12 year olds. I'm kind of tempted to cancel the interview, but I need the experience. So, now I have to do a butt-load of research....

But I think ultimately this isn't the job for me. I am a pretty uptight person, so doing silly songs and stuff isn't my thing...

I think the Storytime demonstration might be easier than coming up with a programming demonstration for tweens...

I went to my local library and talked to the children's librarians there. They're super, super helpful and have offered to send me some resources to look at. They're also some incredibly supportive and encouraging. I hope that, if I do get this job, I can be as good at it as they are.

I think it might be easiest to go with some kind of theme for each "program". I'm having a hard time coming up with a good theme right now, but I think I just need to stew on it for a little bit. Once I have a theme, I can start looking for books and songs/presentation ideas. 15 minutes is a really long time... a really, really long time.

I will be honest, I'm starting to feel kind of overwhelmed by the whole thing.
