I think that waiting for the inevitable rejection letter for a job you interviewed for is the worst. Why does it take three weeks to tell someone they didn't get the job? HR advice sites say it's because they're trying to get the preferred candidate confirmed and all that, but did it take them three weeks to notify that person, too? I mean, that's just inefficiency at work there.

That's of course assuming that they'll even get back to you like they said they would.

Seriously, just tell me right away so I don't have time to agonize over it. Spending three weeks wondering if/when you'll hear back and what the answer will be (and hoping it will be good) and then getting the let-down that you didn't get the job despite all the time and energy you put into the process is far more draining than an immediate "yeah, you didn't fit the bill like we thought...good luck!". At least you don't waste three weeks worth of energy on pointless hope.

Edit: Finally got it today. Dated the 16th, post-marked the 18th. I mean, they actually physically mailed the letter rather than sending an email.

About two months ago, my cat Pekoe got his tail shut in a door. Fortunately, it wasn't broken or anything, as the door wasn't heavy or slammed shut, but it did split the skin and cause him a lot of pain and trouble. Plus, the sight of the blood trickling down his tail royally freaked me out. Anyway, they had to shave part of his tail to get the bandages to stay on. The fur has finally grown back to the point where it fully covers where they had to shave, but it's still not as thick as the rest of the fur on his tail. They shaved about four inches of space near the end of his tail, but left this little tuft of fur at the end. It looks so funny! I call him my little Punk Rock Kitty.

It amazes me how long it takes fur to grow back for him, though. I guess he has a really thick undercoat or something. At least you can see the stripes coming back on his tail.
